Artificial turf raw materials are mostly polyethylene and polypropylene, but polyvinyl chloride and polyamide can also be used. The leaves of the sheets are colored with green coloring imitating natural grass, and UV absorbers need to be added.

Polyethylene: it is softer to the touch, and its appearance and sports performance are closer to natural grass, which is widely accepted by users. It is the most widely used raw material of artificial grass fiber in the market at present.

Polypropylene: the grass fiber is harder, generally suitable for tennis courts, playgrounds, runways or decoration and other uses.

Nylon: It is the earliest raw material of artificial grass fiber, and belongs to the first generation of artificial grass fiber.


The material structure of artificial turf

Artificial turf is composed of three layers of materials. The foundation layer is composed of a compacted soil layer, gravel layer and asphalt or concrete layer. The foundation layer is required to be solid, non-deformed, surface clean and impervious to water for a general concrete field. Because of the large area of the field hockey field, the construction must deal with the foundation layer to prevent sinking. If laying concrete layer, concrete curing to cut out expansion joints to prevent thermal expansion deformation and cracks.

On top of the foundation layer is a cushion layer, usually consisting of rubber or foam. The rubber is moderately elastic and the thickness is 3~5㎜. If it is too thick, the lawn is too soft and easy to dent; if it is too thin, it lacks elasticity and cannot play the role of buffer. The cushion layer should be firmly pasted on the base layer, usually with white latex or universal adhesive.

The third layer, which is also the surface layer, is the turf layer. Depending on the manufactured surface shape, there are fluffy turf, circular curly nylon silk turf, leafy polypropylene fiber turf, nylon silk is woven permeable turf, etc. This layer must also be glued with latex to rubber or foam plastic sheets. The construction must be fully coated with latex and pressed firmly in sequence without wrinkling.

In foreign countries, there are two kinds of turf layer commonly: turf layer with thin leafy fiber, only 1.2~1.5㎜.
